The Team

We are a team of passionate creators consisting of a mix of indigenous iTaukei and Fijian locals who have been working in the Production field for awhile.  With our combined experiences in various aspects of Animation, Film, Art and Music, we bring to the table a wealth of knowledge that is well suited for the production to succeed. Meet the gang who’ll be working on SOLIBULA.

Writer/Animator/Director – Meli Tuqota Jr

Meli Tuqota Jr’s father hails from Vanua Levu, Fiji and his mother is from Ha’apai, Tonga. He has 15+ years experience with graphic design, motion design, basic 2D & 3D animation, some film making and drawing stick figures with both hands. This is his second short film production.

Art/Illustration – Tui Ledua

Tui Ledua has worked as an independent animator and illustrator for over 10 years. Working with organisations, local and international, he has used his skills in communication, illustration and animation to help them tell their stories to the people of the Pacific.

Background & Additional Art – Clarence Dass

Clarence Dass is an international award winning writer and director, with over 20 years experience in Fiji’s media industry. Having worked in both radio and television, Clarence has a passion for storytelling and his love for visual narratives has extended his art to comics and illustration.

Music – Inoke ‘Knox’ Kalounisiga

Inoke Kalounisiga is a contemporary singer/songwriter from Tailevu with maternal links to Rotuma and Samoa. He has been writing and performing music for approximately 20 years and has evolved his sound over time. From a fusion of Soul, roots to Reggae with a rock angle. He has headlined many music festivals in Fiji, and has played at countless Australian music festivals as well.

Audio Production/Foley – Dave Lavaki

Dave Lavaki is the Music Producer and is a singer/songwriter with 12 years of audio production experience. He has worked on everything from award winning radio commercials, big scale stage productions and continues to work on his own music under his stage name Mr. Grin which has given him some success in the Fiji and regional music scene.

3D Modeling – Michael Jon Light

Michael Jon Light is the 3d modeler and is experienced in multimedia content creation across many different platforms & has a background in information technology. With his broad work experience in TV, Education and IT Support, he brings invaluable technical & creative expertise to a multimedia production pipeline.

Colourist – Verdine Lee

Verdine Lee is the colourist who is responsible for adjusting, matching and deciding the colour balance of Soli Bula. She has experience as a Graphic Designer with an eye towards colours and swatches, which proved to be important in getting the visual mood right in the film.

Cultural Consultant – Simione Sevudredre

Simione Sevudredre is an experienced researcher & facilitator on indigenous knowledge and ethics of the iTaukei society. He is a passionate speaker on promoting iTaukei culture locally and at international conventions and forums.
